Building the Imaginary: 16mm Workshop

This project was scheduled to coincide with an exhibition of Jennifer and Kevin McCoy’s work.  VIVID and mac collaborated with n.o.where on the delivery of a 16mm workshops to a group of 16 participants from a diverse range of backgrounds, between the 30th June and the 8th July 2007 in Birmingham. 

Participants were invited to create their own miniature feature films sets in order to develop their film-making and processing skills in relation to the 16mm processes.  Their films were then screened using different techniques of superimposition, collage and fades to create a short moving image work

Film and Animation Summer School

Herbert Media, based at The Herbert gallery in Coventry, offer a wide range of media services including facilities hire, events and training courses.

During the school summer holidays in 2007, they ran a Moving Image Academy for 11-16 year olds. This consisted of 18 talks and three
4-day workshops. The talks covered a variety of topics including scriptwriting, soundtracks, animation, treatments and careers, and the workshops helped the chidlren produce a short film or animation.

film@mac is the monthly film club at the Midlands Arts Centre, Birmingham. Participants join up for monthly classes, in which they pick a film from the mac's main cinema programme exchange opinions about the film and any issues raised.

film@mac is now in it's second successful year of funding from Screen WM, and has proven to be incredibly popular with membership at a maximum every term.
