Screen WM is pleased to be continuing as the West Midlands’ regional partner for Mediabox this year. We will be providing support for individuals and organisations in the region who would like to make an application for a Mediabox grant.
What is Mediabox?
Mediabox is £2 million fund from The Department for Children, Schools and Families. Its run by a consortium of First Light Movies, Media Trust, Skillset and the UK Film Council. It offers disadvantaged 13-19 year olds the opportunity to develop and produce creative media projects, using film, television, print, radio or interactive platforms. Mediabox is for young people to: express their own opinions, ideas and views, gain new skills, encourage creativity, boost personal development and get their voices heard.
Mediabox is continuing the Mid and Big Mediabox grants to make and distribute youth-led media projects that express young people's ideas and views in a creative way, using their preferred media platform:
Mid Mediabox (for charitable trusts and unincorporated associations)
- grants of up to £20,000
Big Mediabox (for legally constituted organisations)
- grants of up to £40,000
There will be a two-stage application process for groups wishing to apply to either Mid or Big Mediabox. The stage one application deadlines are:
29th April 2008
19th August 2008
We would strongly encourage applicants to contact Lou Llewellyn, Mediabox Coordinator for advice and support in developing your application. Lou can be contacted on 0121 265 7120 or email lou.llewellyn@screenwm.co.uk.
The West Midlands is a priority area for the Mediabox scheme this year. There are also regional priorities which applications will be assessed against. Click here to see these priorities.
