The award-winning Company Pictures have a long track record in quality TV drama - from The Lakes to Shameless and Inspector George Gently - but the landmark Skins has redefined youth drama. Responsible for launching the careers of Slumdog Millionaire's Dev Patel and Nicholas Hoult, who recently starred in A Single Man, C4/E4's Skins combines established names (from Harry Enfield to Will Young) with unknowns, hosts open auditions and club/music nights, and works with new writers.
Black Country Touring will be reporting on their venture into the world of online performances with their production of domestic drama Behna (Sisters), a drama set in audience members' kitchens and also broadcast online, while Mudlark look the world of cross-platform production. They're currently developing locative multiplayer games for the iPhone and working with the Royal Shakespeare Company on an exciting new platform to explore Shakespeare’s place in a culture of cross-platform media consumption.
Other speakers include word-of-mouth evangelists 1000Heads, whose Cold War project for the V&A has been internationally acclaimed and University Of York's Human-Computer Interaction Group, plus The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, DShed's The Extended Theatre Experience, Arts Council England West Midlands, Rural Media Company, Art-Sense, Young Disciples and Audiences Central.
