Course Content

The intention of the course is to provide as much hands-on, practical experience as possible. From this point of view, it is tailored to the demands placed on practitioners to undertake lighting with a minimum of portable kit, and specific set-ups are examined with respect to the ease of the lighting rig and practicality of equipment placement within a given location.

Common examples include a seated interview and a presenter facing camera, with reference to three point lighting. Other facets covered include coping with daylight and 'staging' each set-up to best utilise the surroundings and enhance or suppress the natural visual aspects of a location. Delegates are invited to recreate problematic scenarios, and examine the most practical options to create a satisfactory lighting solution.

Answers are provided to all the common questions that arise which include:

How useful is the on-camera light?

In what situations do I need to use it, and how can I get the best results from it?

What are the best lamps to have in a basic kit?

Is lighting for DV any different to other cameras?

Are there any specialist lights for use with DV cameras?

Is there a limit to the number of lights I can use on a location?
