Training Introduction
Participants will be taken through the process of directing self-shoot content for documentary and factual programming through verbal and practical workshops.
Training Aim
The aim of this training programme is to introduce the core technical skills required for shooting and recording video and sound on HDV cameras for broadcast, and to highlight specific techniques which can be adopted by a director to overcome the limitations of filming with and without a crew on DV.
Training Objectives
On completion of the training programme the participants will be able to:
1. Understand both the advantages and limitations of working with DV as a director and operator.
2. Be inspired by the scope of story-telling that can be accomplished with DV shooting.
3. Begin shooting on DV cameras with the basic techniques and knowledge required to interview and observe contributors, producing content which is both in focus and demonstrates clean audio.
Training Duration
2 Days
Training Approach
This is a tutor led course with the focus heavily on group and individual participation.
Attendees will be shown some examples of work by professional practitioners and encouraged to engage in debate and open discussion exploring the material and production techniques. A large portion of the training will be given over to technical skills, demonstration and application, giving participants an opportunity to produce their own self-shoot content over the course of the programme.
