An animation festival with an international perspective FLIP embraces all forms of animation, incuding games, experimental, features and short films. FLIP grew from a recognition that animation is becoming more pervasive amongst consumers and producers as well as the need to provide showcasing and profile raising opportunities for the West Midlands based animation sector. This year's festival will feature amongst others Ninja Theory, Osbert Parker, Sita Sings the Blues, Animated Doctor Who, 4mations and Boulder Media. Festival activity takes place at Light House in Wolverhampton and partner venues.

Black International Film Festival

A five day event taking place at venues across Birmingham with a focus on promoting black cinema in the region and the involvement of people of colour in the film industry, as well as providing platforms for producers of films to showcase their works to the general public. Featuring feature films, short films, music video, live arts and education. The festival's premier event is the MVS Awards a ceremony, to be held this year at the ICC Birmingham, rewarding the efforts of individuals who have contributed to the industry over the past year.

Deaffest 2008

A project to develop and implement plans to establish Deaffest as the pre-eminent UK film festival celebrating world-wide Deaf media production and showcasing it to both Deaf and hearing audiences. Deaffest is the UK’s only Deaf-led Film and Television Festival which celebrates the talents of Deaf filmmakers and media artists. Held at Light House Media Centre in Wlverhampton the festival will include screenings of films produced by UK and International Deaf filmmakers, Young Deaffest which showcases work produced by young Deaf filmmakers, and plenty of panel discussions, networking opportunities and social events.

Borderlines Film Festival 2008

Borderlines is the UK’s largest rural film festival taking place at The Courtyard in Hereford and twenty four other venues in Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcester.  The reach of the festival was extended this year with eight new cinemas The Regal Tenbury Wells, and the village halls in Bodenham, Church Stretton, Ewyas Harold, Fownhope, Hay, Moccas and the WRVS Hall in Hereford participating for the first time. The festival screened seventy five different films from the UK and overseas and featured over fifty speakers introducing films, or taking part in events and debates. Attendances at the festival reached a new high with overwhemlingly positive feedback from audiences.

Disability Film Festival 2008

Taking place at Light House in Wolverhampton the festival will bring work from regional, national and international disabled filmmakers to the big screen as the culmination of the Wolverhampton Disability Arts Festival. Featuring a wide variety of genres and styles, features and short films, the festival aims to celebrate the talents of disabled filmmakers, stimulate debate and give disabled people an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents.
