In his book The Film Sense (1942) the Russian director Sergei Eisenstein promoted the concept of film as a total experience which engaged the whole individual as a creative, thinking, expressive being. As a teacher of film-making he was committed to the pedagogical value of film, not merely as a sensory and aesthetic experience for the viewer, but as a medium of creativity and individuality for the maker. This one day event explores the relationship between film as a technical medium, pedagogy and creativity.
