SCREEN WM TAKES TO THE ROAD WITH £4 MILLION PRODUCTION FUND

Regional screen agency, Screen WM, will hit the road this month to encourage local film and media companies to benefit from its £4 million Media Production Fund.

The roadshows are designed to provide information on the Fund, and offer advice on the application procedure and eligibility criteria. They will also highlight the far-reaching benefits that the Media Production Fund brings to the West Midlands.

Screen WM has co-financed an unprecedented five feature films through the Media Production Fund, including Coventry based filmmaker Debbie Isitt’s wedding comedy, Confetti, and Michael Winterbottom and Mat Whitcross’ multi-award winning The Road to Guantanamo. The fund is open to applications from across the UK although an emphasis will be given to projects which film, post produce or draw creative talent from the West Midlands.

Lee Thomas, head of Production and Development at Screen WM said:

“Regional film funding plays an increasingly important role in financing film and media production, and our Fund is one of the biggest and best available in the UK.

“In addition, Screen WM offers a whole package of support from locations and crew to facilities and training. Whether you’re a filmmaker, production crew, someone looking for work experience or the owner of a property that would make a great film location, our roadshows will tell you all the information you need to get involved.”

The Media Production Fund roadshow will be visiting the following venues in February:

  • Tuesday 19 February, 3pm - Warwick Arts Centre, University of Warwick, Coventry CV 4 7AL
  • Wednesday 20 February, 10.30am - Old Market Hall, The Square, Shrewsbury SY1 1LH
