Skills Development

moving up

From 2004-05, moving up was Screen WM's personal development programme aimed at new entrants into the screen media industry. It was designed to give individuals, preferably working in the industry (with less than two years experience), the skills and knowledge to become a successful freelancer. The programme was formulated to enable the trainee to continue working whilst receiving training.

There have been three moving up programmes, with a total of 37 participants benefiting from the training. The programme included:

  • An Individual Training Needs Analysis
  • Cash towards specific industry craft skills
  • Three Fully Funded Workshops - Finances, Self-Marketing, CV Writing
  • NVQ Unit in Health & Safety
  • Careers Guidance Session
