drive - accelerate your businessWhat is it?
drive is Screen WM’s brand new exciting and innovative business development programme designed specifically for Birmingham based media companies.
drive is simply there to accelerate your business. Developed for busy creative people, the programme works across freelancers – just setting up in business, to established regional players – focussing on current skills and developing great business practice.
drive is about supporting you and where your business needs to go.
Who’s it for?
We’ve got three levels of support:
If you are a freelancer, a sole trader or fairly newly established partnership, then the drive Level 1 programme will introduce you to the essentials of self and business management.
drive Level 2 is for the more established media organisations, particularly those working with, contracting or employing people. This programme builds on the knowledge and skills from the Level 1 programme and digs deeper into growing and accelerating your business.
Finally, drive Level 3 for the more established media businesses. For those who wish to keep on top of current and future business practice specific to the creative industries. This programme works around your experience, new initiatives, trends, specialist forums and high level one-to-one coaching. Yes it’s about business skills but it’s designed to work with the nature, pressures and excitement of the media industry. In order to be eligible for this level, you must have previously undertaken a business development programme with Screen WM, and, as a result, moved on significantly.
Why do it? What are the benefits?
drive is not just about training. It’s looking at you, your business and where you want to go. You are a great film maker, producer of really challenging and provoking documentaries, maker of some really great TV yet the business stuff gets in the way. drive acknowledges this and gives you what you need to know and who you need to work with to make sure the best bits of business practice are utilised in the media industry.
Working through the programme, you will:
What makes this scheme unique is that all the trainers delivering drive sessions have a media background, run media businesses themselves and are experts in their particular field of delivery.
How is it delivered?
The schemes will be delivered over a number of months through a mixture of training sessions and workshops, 1-2-1 support and guidance, work based reviews, recommended reading and practical exercise and discussion with the other delegates – giving you the opportunity to apply all your learning to your own business.
